ON TOUR FALL 2008 & SPRING 2009

THE EMPEROR’S NEW THREADS
is a witty adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fable created and staged by Melody and Peter Anderson and featuring Melody’s amazing masks and fabulous costumes. The play won Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards in 2007 for ensemble work and mask, set & costume design.

An Emperor, obsessed with the latest fashion, falls prey to two tricksters who boast they can make him some new clothes so fashionable that only those who are "smart and good at their jobs" will be able to see them. Worried about other people's opinions, the Emperor and everyone else pretend to see what isn’t there - everyone, that is, except one small child who is not afraid to tell the truth.

Here’s what the schools are saying!

"They loved it! Wonderfully creative and funny!"
Beach Grove Elementary

"The best show I’ve ever seen."
Dave Kandal Elementary

"Wonderful – kept them captivated. Fabulous backdrop! Excellent acting and adapting of storyline."
Dr. T.A. Swift Elementary

"The performance at Bramblewood Elementary (The Emperor’s New Threads) was absolutely fantastic! It was suitable for the age group, the guide was useful, both parents and students enjoyed the actors, and all went well. Thanks again."
Bramblewood Elementary

"I stood at the back of the gym today (Feb. 13, 2007), behind 300 grade K through 7, and watched motionless, totally involved and focused students watching ‘The Emperor’s New Threads’. I admit I was worried about the behavior of the older children but discipline was never an issue. We all loved your performance. The pacing, the humour, the zany characters, the clear message, the fantastic props (especially the crowd scene)… you did a marvelous job. Thank you very much for coming to our school."
John Knox Christian School

"...it is wonderful. The children were mesmerized throughout the performance as was the staff. I have been in the Langley District for 27 years and this is the best performance I have ever seen. The set, props and use of said made a well known tale come to life in a new and innovative way. Well done. We hope to see another of your performances in the future."
RC Garnett Elementary
